Celio Rafael Antonio Brandao, known as Rafael Brandao, was born in Garça on June 24, 1993. He is a professional bodybuilder and made history by becoming the first Brazilian to win a professional championship in the Open Bodybuilding category. He is currently recognized as one of the top ten athletes in the Open category currently active.

In this text, we will cover all aspects of Rafael Brandão's sporting career, one of the main representatives of Brazil in the Open Bodybuilding category.

Rafael was born and raised in Garça, in the interior of São Paulo. He started going to the gym with the aim of gaining weight, due to his metabolism.

He began his career weighing 55 kilos as a teenager. At the age of 20, he decided to compete for the first time and, at the age of 22, he was already seen as one of the great promises of the sport in Brazil.

In 2016, Rafael Brandão participated in the 47th Brazilian Bodybuilding Championship and won all four categories in which he competed.

He won trophies in the categories Youth Bodybuilding up to 75 kg and Youth Bodybuilding – Overall, which include athletes up to 23 years old, in addition to Senior Men's Bodybuilding up to 100 kg and Senior Men's Bodybuilding – Overall.

With these victories, he earned the pro card, which made him a professional athlete registered with the International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB).

In 2017, Rafael Brandão made his debut on the IFBB Pro Circuit, finishing eighth in the IFBB San Marino Pro. The following year, at the 2018 New York Pro, he placed sixth.

Brandão's debut in Arnold Classic in 2019

In 2019, Rafael Brandão competed for the first time in the Arnold Classic, one of the most important events in bodybuilding. He achieved seventh place, representing a significant step in his international career.

In the same year, Brandão went to the United States to spend a season, where he began living with his wife, the athlete Karen Ranocchia.
